Aquila Summer Camp is the highlight of the Troop's year and a week at the start of the School Summer holidays. It is hoped that all Scouts will want to come on our Summer Camp, which has a variety of activities.
We aim to have this camp in a part of the country away from St Albans and to include adventurous activities that are not possible during the rest of the year: for example, hill walking in the Lake District and water activities in Wales.
It is in the first full week of the Hertfordshire Schools Holidays. This is the main activity of our year, when we really get out and have fun, and all the skills gained during the year can be put into action. So I hope that all Scouts will come on this camp.
We will be camping together as a Troop, with patrols mainly cooking their own meals. A variety of activities are planned, both around the campsite and in the countryside around. Trained adults will adequately supervise activities away from the campsite.
(Note this section not fully updated yet)
We are now planning our main event, next Summer Camp and I hope this will be first choice for all Scouts to come.
Aquila's Summer Camp in 2022 will be in the Pembrokeshire National Park, Wales
We will be camping at St Brides Scout Campsite. This is a small Scout campsite, right next to a small beach and bay. We may have exclusive use of the site
We hope to book a water activity. We will be discussing the programme with scouts over the Winter, planning to do some activities aimed at newer scouts while older scouts get on with things more suitable for them. However, most of the program will be the whole Troop together.
There will be a display of photos of the area on our notice board and there are photos of the site and area on our Troop website.
