GENERAL INFORMATION

This is a District inter-Troop competition based on a evening incident hike in a local area.

It is always a popular and enjoyable activity, based on putting Scouting skills into practice. Each team of four to six Scouts goes around a hike route during the evening, doing activities at various bases,  based on a theme. Past years’ themes have included James Bond, Star wars etc. Both the bases and points in between are supervised. Following the hike, the teams sleep in tents, which are put up beforehand (NOT carried). The event finishes after breakfast on the Sunday morning.

Participating Scouts do need hiking boots, waterproof jacket and overtrousers, but apart from that enthusiasm. As a guide for the hike: scouts who managed the hikes at Summer Camp, should have no difficulty with this hike.

This is a competition where we usually do well and have a couple of teams.  Ideally some scouts will get together a team and say this on registration. alternatively, older scouts could contact other scouts specifically and form a team that way. Of course, we will take individual entries as well.

It would be great to have a team of younger scouts: if necessary, these could be accompanied by a leader.
