1 - TROOP CALENDAR AND NEXT MEETINGS |
---|
All activities are put in our calendar More information on our website: http://aquila.scout-troop.org.uk/Member_information/calendar.htm Friday April 1: Normal meeting times, but informal - no uniform needed. We will have a games evening: if lucky with weather, we will start in the Wick (after meeting at the hut). However, a few scouts were going to finish off a badge from Friday, by bringing "something" in. They should know!! We then break up until after Easter, but have not finalised when we will restart |
2 - HEDGE PLANTING IN THE WICK |
---|
Sunday
April 3, 10:30 - 12:30 - come for all or part of this time We will have another session in the Wick, this time planting hedging shrubs / trees. This community service will count towards World Challenge Badge - quite a few scouts are near completion on this, where we are doing modified requirements because of Covid. So this will finish it: it is a relatively easy way of doing the "service" part of the badge However, it is also important as a positive activity to improve the Wick around our Scout Hut. The saplings are not coming until next Tuesday, so we do not know the size or number, but likely to be LOTS. We will have a few spades and forks, but it would be helpful to bring one of these. We could also do with one or two parents! To give an idea of numbers, please complete the form if your scout is coming http://aquila.scout-troop.org.uk/Activities/Other_activity_information/Form_Wick_Conservation.htm I will send out further details after Tuesday. |
3 - SPRING CAMP |
---|
Friday evening to Sunday (early afternoon),
13 - 15 May Tolmers Scout Activity centre, Cuffley We hope that lots of scouts will want to participate in this our main activity until Summer Camp. We are planning our camp for the weekend at Tolmers. It is a mixture of open field and woodland. There are various camp site activities already booked. As well as some of these, the programme will be a mixture of activities and games: this site is excellent for wide games. I hope that Scouts will do some part of the Challenge badges. We will have a camp fire on the Saturday evening. We will ask what food they would like when meetings restart after Easter. We will leave 6.30 p.m. on Friday and return after lunch on Sunday. This is our normal Spring weekend camp, with initial information: http://aquila.scout-troop.org.uk/Activities/Camp_information/Spring_camp_information.htm The cost will be 19.00 pounds inclusive and this should be paid by by April 29 (bank transfer or cash). Final details, equipment list etc. will be posted later, but We have opened registration: http://aquila.scout-troop.org.uk/Activities/Camp_information/Form_Spring_Camp.htm |
4 - SUMMER CAMP |
---|
WE hope a few more new scouts will want to
come on this,so we remain open to register and pay
deposits. We
do hold a few places for new scouts until they have got
thenselves familiar with the troop and gone on a
nights-away acticvity with us. We have the dates (Saturday
23 July to Saturday 30 July, 2022) and site
booked: St Brides Scout Camp in Pembrokeshire Coast
National Park. This is a very different area from our
last Summer Camp. This is a small Scout campsite, right
on the coast near St Davids
We are now taking deposits for this, our main activity of the year. The first letter, requesting deposit is on our website. http://aquila.scout-troop.org.uk/Member_information/newsletters.htm After paying the deposit, complete the short registration form: http://aquila.scout-troop.org.uk/Activities/Camp_information/Form_Summer_Camp_deposit.htm More information: http://aquila.scout-troop.org.uk/Activities/Camp_information/Summer_camp_information.htm There are some photos of the site and area: http://aquila.scout-troop.org.uk/Activities/Campsites/st_brides.htm More photos are on our noticeboard in the Scout Hut. We are keeping the cost of the Camp down to £174.00, inclusive of transport, food and accommodation. We need to get a clear idea of the number of scouts who wish to go, so to ensure a place please pay the deposit of £49.00 as soon as possible, IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO GET NUMBERS SORTED OUT EARLY, AND WE WANT TO TRY TO ENSURE WE CAN TAKE ALL SCOUTS WHO WANT TO COME AND BOOK ENOUGH PLACES FOR ACTIVITIES. SO REPLY QUICKLY. I think all the Scouts had a great time last Summer Camp, so I hope plenty will sign up for the next: the highlight of the Troop's year. |
5 - ACTIVITY BADGES |
---|
WE sorted out a lot of activity badges last
Friday, where they represented activities scouts did
outside scouting. Badges are on order! There were some questions about a few other activity badges. NOte that all activity badges and what is needed to get them is here: https://www.scouts.org.uk/scouts/activity-badges/ But the following were asked: Orienteer https://www.scouts.org.uk/scouts/activity-badges/orienteer/ Equestrian https://www.scouts.org.uk/scouts/activity-badges/equestrian/ Cyclist https://www.scouts.org.uk/scouts/activity-badges/cyclist/ (For this we can cover the "repair and adjust" part, but scouts would need the appropriate qualification / certificate) |
