Joining > Moving from Cubs
Cubs from 18th Homewood Pack move on to our Scout Troop. The age for this is about 10 years 6 months, but generally not before 10 years 3 months or after 10 years 9 months.
We try to group these transfers at the start of each term, so several cubs move on together. The exact time is agreed between Cub Leader, Scout Leader and parents.
Please note that the number of Scouts we can have in the Troop may be limited by a number of factors, including the number of adult leaders and the size of the Headquarters building: we are always looking for more adults to help us.
Moving outside the ages, given above, is a decision of the Group Scout Leader alone. Such an exception will only be agreed if there are good reasons. So parents should not plan or assume that their son or daughter age range.
Once the date is fixed for moving on, then this date marks the end of the members period in the Cub Pack.
Parents should be contacted about one term ahead by their Cub Leader to inform them about the likely date for moving on. This allows parents to discuss it at this early stage so a final decision can be made.
The Scout Leader will talk to the group of Cubs due to transfer during the previous term. Parents and Cubs should get full information about the Troop at this stage.
During moving on, children continue to be members of the Scout Group and continue to wear their Group neckerchief. The page on uniform gives more information about this and getting a new uniform top. (Trousers remain the same throughout the Group.)
Cubs finish taking part in the Pack at the end of the term. They start going to the Scout Troop at the start of the next term and should have clear information about this from the Scout Leader.
