MOVING ON TO EXPLORERS   

Explorers are organised by the District. There are several units within the District, but many activities are joint.

Explorers also includes the Young Leader scheme: anyone 14 - 17 who helps regularly with a younger section is registered as an Explorer in the Young Leader Scheme. This may be all the scouting activity done or a Young Leader could also take part in some Explorer activities.

When coming close to 14 years old a Scout will get some information about Explorers and a chance to visit one or more unit. He and his parents will be consulted about when to move on and a time is agreed with the Scout Leader. This is generally between 14 and 15 years old.

We hope that Scouts on leaving the Troop for Explorers will keep some contact with the Group. This could possibly be through helping with a younger section (as part of their Explorer service) or in other ways.
