GREEN BERET   

This is an inter-Troop County event in the middle of November, with more than 100 teams from all over Hertfordshire. It has four separate competitions, each with Trophies, and a Trophy for the over-all winners: including orienteering, assault course and night activities. It runs from Friday evening to Sunday morning, so two nights camping. This is particularly aimed at scouts with some Scouting experience (at least a camp), but enthusiastic newcomers can apply: it is always a very enjoyable, but challenging event.

From March onwards, we are trying to get teams sorted out. While we do not want to become too focused on “position”, we do want to give opportunity for teams to come together and do well. We have showed that teams from the Aquila Troop can do very well and, perhaps, improve on that performance. Particularly for Scouts who took part in LAST year’s Green Beret, we are encouraging Scouts to get teams sorted at this stage, so we can then do a few activities during Troop meetings where those teams work together. Inevitably, with our busy schedule, these opportunities will be spread out over the next few months and so we must start the process NOW.

The first stage is for Scouts, who really want to take part, to complete this form. At this stage, this is mainly aimed at Scouts who have done the Green Beret before. No payment at this stage. As before, we will try to encourage Scouts who get together as a team (teams of six).

Note that others, who might want to take part, can sign up much nearer the time and we will have what teams we can.
