DEREK TURNER CHALLENGE

This is a District inter-Troop competition  based on a evening incident hike.

It is always a popular and enjoyable activity, based on putting Scouting skills into practice. Each team of four to six Scouts goes around a hike route during the evening, doing activities at various bases,  based on a theme. Past years’ themes have included James Bond, Star wars etc. Both the bases and points in between are supervised. Following the hike, the teams sleep in tents, which are put up beforehand (NOT carried). The event finishes after breakfast on the Sunday morning.

Participating Scouts do need hiking boots, but apart from that enthusiasm. This is a competition where we usually do well and have a couple of teams.
