KEEPING CLEAN AT CAMP |

Wash kit Believe it or not, washing does occur at camps and a decent wash kit and towel are essential. For a camp where there are water activities (swimming or boating) a large towel is needed, but otherwise a small towel is more convenient and easier to dry. A new bar of soap, in its paper bag is a good test of whether or not your scout washes, but what does he do with the bar after using it and it is wet and slimy? A plastic soapbox is important, but even better, how about shower gel instead of soap, so there is no slimy soap to deal with? Finally, the wash kit should be in a waterproof bag, preferably one that closes properly, so things do not fall out between the tent and the wash room. Dirty clothes A bag of some sort should be packed for collecting dirty clothes, and keep them separate from clean. This could be just an extra plastic carrier bag, but for a week camp everything will get smelly inside. An old pillowcase, with draw cord, makes a very good laundry bag. |
