18TH ST ALBANS

AQUILA

SCOUT TROOP

THE GAMES HAT

The idea is a way to try a new game occasionally, or one we have not done for some time. The game will be chosen by picking its name out of a hat.

Scouts can nominate games (see below on how to find them) and will win a token prize if their game is chosen.

Hopefully we can expand our own "database" of regular games.

Rules

Names of games are written on bits of paper, and occasionally we will run a game by picking it from the hat.

Each Scout can suggest two games in the hat at a time, and so be eligible to win.

Nominate them by EITHER: writing the names AND HOW TO PLAY IT on a bit of paper (or printing out from a website - see below)

OR: by emailing the details to the Troop.

(You could check if the leaders already know the rules , in which case just the name is needed.) Remember to include your name!

Games should be ones that we do not already play regularly. Note that we try not to repeat games too often. Although we welcome any games, ones that require special equipment or are outside games may not be possible without forward planning.

Wide games are specifically excluded. Although you can still suggest them to us for use, they will not go in the hat.

Games must be playable within the rules of common sense and the Scout Association.

If your game is pulled out of the hat, then you win a couple of points for your patrol in the Patrol Competition.

Where to find games

We have a couple of books with games ideas in the Troop cupboard.

There are quite a few on-line games databases: do an internet search for "scout games".
